Snow?

Hey All- I'm sure by now you've heard the forecast for early this week. Lots and lots of snow.

Plan A:
We are still aiming to go to Moore on Tuesday, but if the snow seems too intense...
Plan B:
We will meet in our classroom at Tyler. If the snow is SOOOO intense that school is cancelled...
Plan C:
I will give you an assignment that you can complete at home, so we can stay on track.

Stay tuned for the plan.

For Tuesday Jan 27

Hope everyone enjoyed the Vitra show! Here is the trailer for The Architect and The Painter, the film I mentioned about Charles and Ray Eames:

For homework, I would like you to draw another piece of furniture using the proportion measuring technique that we went over today. It should be full-page, in pencil. We will look at these on Tuesday and I want to see that you continually measured and re-worked the proportions until they were accurate.

Tuesday we will be meeting inside the lobby at "The Galleries at Moore", Moore College of Art, 1:00 sharp. You can take the subway to City Hall, then it is a walkable distance to Logan's Square- where Moore is located. More info here: http://moore.edu/the-galleries-at-moore

For Thursday Jan 22

On Thursday we will be meeting inside the lobby of the Perelman (the annex to the PMA) which is located across the street on Fairmount. This will wrap up our PMA visits!

For homework please complete 5 full-page blind counters in pencil or micron pen of interior spaces, or vignettes within an interior.

For next Tuesday

I hope that everyone enjoyed their time at the PMA! For homework please complete the last part of the assignment in your sketchbook.

Memory reflection: Record the things that are still haunting you from your viewing experience. What stuck with you about this particular work? Why do you think these things made a lasting impression? Draw aspects of the piece from memory. Choose a drawing material that seems to be the most appropriate in relation to your piece.

We will be meeting in the west entrance lobby of the PMA again next Tuesday at 1:00. Please bring your materials, and be sure to email me your response to the reading in PDF form prior to class.

Extra Credit Opportunity #1

DATE:

Tuesday, January 20, 2015 - 6:00pm
LOCATION:

Temple Contemporary
Temple Contemporary is pleased to present the book launch for SEPTA Posters: Collector’s Edition. Printed with our own Publication Studio, the Collector’s Edition brings together five zines that feature Beth Heinly’s trademark black and white line work. Drawing on a tradition of culture hacking and subverting advertising images, Heinly emphasizes and exposes the subtle and not-so-subtle racism, classism, and sexism in advertisements found in Philadelphia’s public transit spaces. Arts writer and artist Whitney Kimball will lead the dialogue with Heinly about her work.

    Thursday Jan 15 @ PMA

Class will meet inside the West entrance (not the side with the Rocky steps) of the PMA at 1:00 sharp. Please find Erica immediately to check in.
It is a bit tricky to get to the PMA from Temple. Your best bets are driving and parking somewhere in Fairmount, Uber, or bike down Fairmount. You can take the 23 bus to the 43 bus if you have more than 30 minutes to get there.

Tomorrow I will share the cell # list so you can begin to carpool if necessary.

    Material Requirements

Students must have materials by Tuesday January 20.
